Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to report on an industry Panel regarding manufacturing engineering education, and especially to examine the presentations for emerging requirements. The new competency most emphasized was preparation for globalization. The concept has not yet had widespread impact on undergraduate engineering curricula in general; manufacturing engineering is certainly no exception. The industry reports summarized here, combined with the literature on the subject should help educators draft objectives statements and measurable outcomes for manufacturing engineering education.
