Abstract

This paper describes the product design and development process for an electrically operated residential waste removal system. The objective of the project is to provide an alternative method for elderly or handicapped persons to remove household trash, without the difficulties of lifting, tying, and disposing or the cost of complicated trash compacting systems. The ultimate goal of the system is to increase the quality of life for the physically handicapped. Automatically removing household trash from the home will increase the self-sufficiency of the handicapped, and decrease the chance of injury associated with everyday tasks.
