A new Optical-Fiber Ring Resonator Temperature (OFRRT) sensor has been presented for measuring temperature. The sensor is designed based on Morphology Dependent Resonances (MDR) which follows Maxwell’s electromagnetic equations. The OFRRT sensor is designed based on optical ring deformation that leads to change in output signal. A finite element model of the prototype sensor shows encouraging result to detect the temperature. The sensor design is very simple and robust. The developed expression for size parameter for transverse electric wave is very simple and can be used to characterize the resonances in dielectric micro-ring resonator. Parametric studies of the sensor have been performed by using finite element analysis. The proposed OFRRT sensor can be used to measure the temperature of micro-structures from remote places. More importantly, the OFRRT sensor can also be used for biomedical applications.
