Gyricity is a continuous distribution of embedded angular momentum that is considered intrinsic to the constitutive material of the structure. Gyroelastic beams, a special case of general gyroelastic systems, are analyzed in this paper where the governing equations for a gyrobeam are formulated by employing the simple longitudinal deformation theory, Duleau torsion theory, and Timoshenko bending theory to model the beam elasticity. The obtained gyrobeam model is used to study the spectral and modal behaviour of thick gyroelastic beams.
