This paper shows modeling approaches and methods for the fully dynamic optimization of electromagnets in the design process. The used circuit models are characterized by sustainable calculation times and good accuracy and thus allow quickly to determine the design with the best properties (e.g. the shortest actuation times or the lowest power consumption) within a given range. Besides that, a method to simulate hysteresis effects during the actuator design is pointed out. An automated process to identify Jiles-Atherton model parameters from measured characteristics will be shown. The presented method allows the designers of solenoids a fast and reliable design process and thus matching the increasing demands on functionality.
