Precise tension and speed control of axially moving material systems enables high speed processing of paper, plastics, fibers, and films. This paper proves that PD tension/speed control can ensure strong and weak boundedness of distributed displacement and tension, respectively, in a single span axially moving material system. An iterative learning controller (ILC) is proven to provide the same theoretical result but greatly improved simulated response.
