Generating action of a plane in general motion is studied. Involute helicoid is generated by a plane in linear motion on a rotating blank, with surface equations derived in terms of the orientation of the basic plane and the relative motion. The conical involute gear is defined with the basic rack geometry and installation. Conditions of gear integrity are obtained. Limits on gear tooth are determined with the transverse rack. Methods of kinemtic-geometrical nature, the concept of axes of meshing in particular, are applied in favor over pure analytical approaches to facilitate intuitive understanding of the processes.
