Abstract

This paper describes the design consideration and implementation of an intelligent hydraulic valve system, which can be used for controlling and monitoring valve states. This fieldbus based power line communication network development is a result of a desire to have a dedicated, open, low-cost and easily installed system in the field with robust reliability, which could support the communication needs of devices which are normally interconnected by “low voltage” wiring. The paper covers the contents of development goals, communication system selection, media characteristics, signalling technique, network protocol and device interfaces.
