Abstract

In order to meet the increasing requirements of costs, lead time and quality in global distributed product design and development processes a basis is process optimization through purposeful distribution as well as minimizing distribution disadvantages.

Based on this the project “Distributed Product Design and Development Processes at BMW AG” wants to elaborate methods and tools for early recognition of distribution problems as well as possible solutions for these problems.

This paper primarily presents the elaborated methodical basis of distribution regarding the conclusions of process analysis.

A main result of this is the Taxonomy System as a tool and method for process optimization.
