Abstract

This paper reviews and compares two major optical methods for vibration measurement: digital shearography and TV-holography. Digital shearography measures surface displacement derivatives whereas TV-holography measures surface displacements. While both methods enjoy the advantages of being full-field and noncontacting, digital shearography has been proven to be more practical than TV-holography because it employs a simpler setup and does not require special vibration isolation.
