Abstract
We argue that geometry constructs and solid operations currently emerging in commercial, feature-based CAD systems are without an appropriate semantic foundation, and that a rigorous semantics poses significant research problems. In particular, we argue that a formalization of feature attachment and other generative constructs in the presence of geometric constraints cannot be based solely on conventional boundary representation or on current geometry standards.
