Abstract
A rapid design prototyping laboratory has been established at the Ohio State University. The purpose of the laboratory was to effectively bridge the gap between industry expectations and the students’ hands-on experience with the CAD/CAM process and develop and teach integrated CAD/CAM courses utilizing the facilities. The laboratory contains CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, an injection molding machine, and workstations running CAD/CAM software. The facility has been well integrated into the teaching program. This paper discusses the background and establishment, operation and utilization of this laboratory.
