In this paper, the quantitative safety objectives of the risk-informed management activities in nuclear power plants are discussed, which include core damage frequency (CDF) and large release frequency (LRF). It traces the base and source for setting these objectives and analysis their appropriateness and applicability briefly. In addition, this paper shows the risk level of current nuclear units in China which are different in type and generation, and introduces the status of risk-informed optimization activities in China. Finally, combining with the confusion and discussion which has been found out in the using of the safety guidelines previously, this paper summarizes and discusses the appropriateness and applicability of quantitative safety objectives in probabilistic risk analysis activities in nuclear power plants in China, and gives some suggestions.
