In this work, multi-stage orifice throttling devices in CVS were designed and their resistance coefficient was calculated and analyzed for different working conditions in order to optimize their characteristics. The influence of aperture ratio and hole spacing on the resistance coefficient in a two-stage throttle assembly was analyzed. Using multiple linear regression analysis, relationship between the resistance coefficient and the aperture ratio in a two-stage throttle is obtained and successfully applied to the design of multi-stage throttling devices.
