The control valve is one of the key fluid control components in a nuclear power plant, such as a Main Feedwater Control Valve, Pressurizer Spray Valve, etc. Stiction is one of the most common problems for control valves due to breakout static friction. Control valve stiction may lead to a poor performance, or even oscillations in the control loop. This paper presents a method based on parameters identification of detecting control valve stiction. It can detect the control valve stiction parameters quickly and quantitatively so that provides support for online detection or prospective maintenance of control valves.
