The main function of the open sump is to adjust flow pattern and provide good inflow condition for the cooling pump, which plays an important part in the pump performance. However, because of the defective design of the sump, it will lead to deterioration of flow pattern and cause the bad influence on normal operation of the pump. This paper elaborated kinds of vortex-elimination rectification measures and compute different kinds flow pattern after adding rectification measures based on steady incompressible flow CFD. The researches compare flow patterns of pre and post rectification and analyze the feasibility of vortex-suppressing rectification measures.
