A thermal-hydraulic analysis about a test of a steam generator feedwater line break (FLB) accident was performed using RELAP5/MOD3.3 code. The test was performed at KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) in ATLAS (Advanced Thermal-Hydraulic Test Loop for Accident Simulation) facility. A sudden break of a steam generator feedwater line can induce a hydrodynamic load on the internal structures of a steam generator. From a structural integrity point of view, a precise prediction on the hydrodynamic load during the steam generator FLB is important for a structural integrity evaluation of the nuclear power plant. Thermal-hydraulic parameters such as dynamic and static pressure, temperature, and flowrate during a FLB of a steam generator were investigated. RELAP5/MOD3.3 was used for evaluating the blowdown load prediction in simulation of a steam generator FLB and showed proper capability of the prediction.
