We measured the skyshine dose from turbine buildings at Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 and Unit 2, and then compared it with the dose calculated by MCNP5 in order to confirm validation. The skyshine dose values calculated by MCNP5 show good agreement with the experimental data, within a factor of 2.8, if the radiation shielding effect of the deck-plate and additional concrete on the roof is precisely taken into account. We concluded that MCMP5 was valid for calculating skyshine dose for BWR turbine buildings.
