This paper discusses the key features of the Fuel design and Core Operations of the AP1000 reactor. Core Design and thermal parameters are compared to those of existing Westinghouse reactors. Details of the Fuel Assembly design are provided, along with relevant operating experience. Finally, differences in core operation and reactivity control between the AP1000 and previous generation Westinghouse reactors are discussed in the context of overall plant design and operation.
