The foam floating decontamination (FFD) method consists of floating, carrying and removing processes of minute particle contaminatns, such as MOX powder, by foam. In this study the zirconia powder was used to simulate MOX powder. This study describes the behavior of floating zirconia powder within the FFD method. It has shown that the foam is able to float and to carry the zioconia powders, which have grain size distributions of φ 5–50 μ m, from the bottom to the top of a column. It is expected that the FFD would be very useful as a decontamination method of MOX fuel fabrication installations.
