Abstract

A nationwide harmonized quality assurance system for radwaste conditioning, interim storage and final disposal has been implemented in Germany. Up to now the guideline for all steps have been the waste acceptance criteria for the final disposal facilities Morsleben and Konrad. While the first one is in the stage of preparation for final closure the startup of the latter will be postponed for at least another 10 years. Possibly the next German repository will not be located at Konrad and start operation as late as 2030. This change in disposal policy has significant impact on the conditioning and QA-procedures today.
