Abstract
We tested the applicability of using a steam reforming DAW treatment technology (Steam Reformer), which was developed by Duratek Inc. (USA), for low level active wastes (ion exchange resin, PVC, fluorine-contained polymers, etc.) that are stored in each facility in Japan, because these wastes generate acid gas that corrodes incinerators. Tests were carried out using a modified-laboratory scale Steam Reformer and surrogate wastes. The test results showed a high weight reduction rates for ion exchange resin and PVC of 200 and 50 respectively.
