The paper investigates the possible solutions for two basic problems of the nuclear energetics: the management of the high-level waste (HLW) and the presently very low efficiency of the natural uranium utilization. A new concept, namely the waste recycling symbiotic nuclear energy system (WRSS) is suggested. This system integrates the partitioning and transmutation (P&T) technology, which eliminates the long-lived isotopes of the HLW with a so called symbiotic nuclear energy system, which refers to the better fuel utilization. The description of the system and a preliminary analysis is presented based on the total-system performance assessment of the two subsystems.
