Good Morning. My name is Carl Paperiello and I am the Deputy Executive Director for Materials, Research and State Programs at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. I would like to thank the organizers for this opportunity to speak on a subject that is becoming an area with new issues as we enter into a new millennium.
In my remarks today, I would like to provide an overall picture of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (USNRC’s) Waste Management Activities. Although waste management is considered a broader topic than environmental management, it is relevant because environmental management and restoration are handled under radioactive waste management and facilities decommissioning at the USNRC.
