This paper will describe the application features of the Avco Lycoming TF40B Marine Gas Turbine in the U.S. Navy Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) built by Bell Aerospace, New Orleans, U.S.A.

In addition to LCAC installation items such as mounting, control, instrumentation, inlet and exhaust, a description of the engine itself will be included delineating those items peculiar to the LCAC Application and those items reflecting improvements over the TF40 engines previously used.
