Minimum length diffusers investigated and reported in the Creare Diffuser Data Book are examined in the light of the maximum diffusion rate theory due to Stratford and Tubbs, and the constant discharge blockage concept proposed by D. P. Kenny. Simple correlations for recovery versus length, effectiveness versus blockage, and loss versus blockage at area ratio = 4.0 are given for flat diffusers of aspect ratio = 1 and for conical diffusers.
