Numerical simulations (RANS and URANS) are quantitatively and qualitatively compared to both trailing-edge cooled and uncooled turbine blade experimental data. The numerical studies are carried out at engine scale conditions. Focus is given to the turbulence model’s ability to predict the following flow quantities: turbine blade loading, boundary layer, base pressure, and wake profiles. RANS and URANS grid converged solutions are assessed. URANS provided accurate quantitative assessment of trailing-edge shedding frequency and base pressures, while qualitatively highlighting energy separation in the wake.
