Turbomachinery blades pass through several resonances during start up and shut down operations that cause cumulative damage leading to failures. It is important to estimate life of these blades at design stage so as to reduce prototype testing time. While the technologies required for lifing have been established, it is still a time consuming process to achieve the final result with calculations from different groups involved in solid and fluid mechanics and heat transfer. Here an attempt is made to reduce the design cycle time by way of combining these multifaceted technologies and develop a process driven approach to determine life using Hyper Works platform.
