This paper presents the optimization of an existing low-cost axial pump for drainage of flooded areas with respect to the efficiency, by means of a CFD analysis and experimental investigation. The numerical simulations helped to analyze the flow conditions inside the pump, to understand the stator implementation effect and to verify the blade design. Based on the results, constructive suggestions were derived for the design of the impeller and the diffuser.
