This paper will present the results from a water tunnel investigation of cavitation damage from a secondary flow induced by the interaction between a non-cavitating vortex and a fin at angle of attack. The experimental setup will be presented along with images illustrating the phenomenon. A hypothesis for the generation of the secondary flow cavitation will be proffered along with results of a preliminary mitigation scheme.
