This paper presents results of tests performed on side-suction inlet-nozzles of centrifugal pumps. These results demonstrate, that there exists a need to revise our approach towards the adaptation of CFD to the design of centrifugal pumps. Also, it quotes a number of additional publications which discuss other aspects of the existing problem. The subject matter presented in this paper relates directly to the design of centrifugal pumps. However, there are indications, that similar problems may also exist in relation to the design of other fluids machines.
