Formed suction inlets are often used under, or in place of, bell intakes for large pumps when adverse approach flow conditions are present. The present research study is aimed at developing a new design of a formed suction inlet (FSI) based on pump bell diameter to increase the efficiency and usefulness of this type of pump intake. It is also intended that this research supplement existing information regarding FSI’s, which will encourage the development of standard design criteria.
