The separation performance of a jig classifier was studied numerically using mixtures of two and three types of spherical plastic particles. The fluid phase was solved by the SIMPLE scheme. Movement of each particle was simulated by a Lagrangian method including contact force calculated by the distinct element method. In the case of a mixture consisting of three types of spherical particles, the maximum difference in densities was set to be 0.01 g/cm3. The results of simulation showed that the jig classifier has good separation performance.
