Research emphasis is placed upon an air-cooling device that is introduced to ensure the stable operation of the upper bearings of a pump transporting high-temperature medium. Both the flow and heat transfer inside the air cooling device are simulated. The distributions of velocity, stress and temperature distributions related to the air-cooling device are obtained. The relationship between air flow rate and cooling effect is analyzed. A thermal fluid-solid coupling method is used to solve thermal stress and thermal deformation of solid parts associated with the air cooling device.
