A typical inducer has a lower breakdown NPSH (net positive suction head when loss of headrise occurs) than that of centrifugal impeller. It is an axial impeller with special design features that allow pump operation under cavitation or partial cavitation condition. The design principle of inducer is to obtain appropriate head rise with low power consumption and good anti-cavitation capability. The failures of inducer are mainly caused by cavitation, but always involve other factors. Through numerical simulation and experimental analysis, the pressure loading on blades that affect the bending strength of blades is obtained. This paper studies pressure loading on inducer blades of the study object at steady and unsteady state.
