To determine the inception cavitation of model pump-turbine runner blade still depends on the artifical way, hence the results differ by the observers. An acoustics method is performed to determine the inception cavitation of model pump-turbine runner blade by abstracting and analyzing the characteristic parameters of the cavitation noise acquired with the hydrophone. The rationality and accuracy of this method have been verified by the tests, and it is significant to determine the inception cavitation instead of the experimental way.
