The rapid progress of high technology, especially in industrial machinery and electronic applications, requires the development of advanced coatings having many properties such as high hardness, wear resistance, anticorrosion, thermal barrier, and of good quality. For this purpose are used metal coatings by the electro-thermal explosion spraying technique. A huge drawback of this method is that only internal cylindrical surfaces of components may be metallized up to 120 mm diameter. The study was aimed at extending the electro-thermal explosion spraying technique to external profile and plane surfaces, at the examination of the properties of the coatings.
