Hypochlorite and iodophor germicides are compared with regard to physical, chemical and sanitizing properties. The influence of pH on the germicidal characteristics are evaluated and the theory of mechanism of germicidal action reviewed. Hypochlorite and iodophor are compared under a variety of use conditions of temperature concentration, presence of organic matter, and different materials of construction. The economics of sanitizing with hypochlorite and iodophor is reviewed with various dispensing equipment.
