Abstract

Preservation of donor organs like kidney and liver is vital for enhancing the success rate of transplantation procedures. Effective preservation methods are crucial for maintaining organ viability and functionality after they are harvested from donors. Various strategies are available for organ preservation, including static cold storage, hypothermic machine perfusion, and normothermic machine perfusion. Among these methods, hypothermic machine perfusion has emerged as the most preferred technique for preserving organs before transplantation. This paper aims to provide guidelines and present a preliminary approach for developing a low-cost kidney perfusion machine.
